THE HISTORY OF beaver ranch |
|
Beaver Ranch has a rich history, beginning on Casto Creek, and being a stage stop on the Leadville Trail.
Beaver Ranch was originally a 2000 acre parcel acquired buy James Quigg Newton, son of former Denver Mayor Newton.
The beautiful acreage has been the home of a series of summer camps run by the Grace Methodist Church, the Southwest Community Center, the Kiwanis Clubs, and most recently the YMCA.
With strong Conifer community support, Beaver Ranch was purchased by Jefferson County Open Space in 2001, and is now considered a Jefferson County Open Space Park.
Although Beaver Ranch is now open to the public there is a lot of work remaining to be done as we plan improvements such as trail upgrading. If you would like to volunteer please visit our How to Help page for more information.
